Between quarantines and travel restrictions, many people have developed big cases of wanderlust. In record numbers, people are hitting the open road in search of adventure. Whether you’ve made a lifestyle change during the pandemic or simply hope to take an RV vacation, how you pack for your RV trip can make a big difference when it comes to your experience on the road. For a few things to consider when packing for any type of RV trip, read on.

Clothing and Essentials

Arguably, the most important things you’ll pack for any RV adventure are the right clothes and essential items for hygiene. If you’re planning a great adventure, start early when it comes to picking out things like cute tops for women, sweatshirts, wool socks, hats, and more. Consider sunscreen, bathing suits, jackets, scarfs, gloves, and other weather-appropriate items and articles of clothing, too. The last thing you’ll want to do on your vacation is to have to make trips to the store for missing items. The better you pack now, the more time you’ll have for relaxing later.

When packing for your trip, be sure to think about things like toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates, and other items you’ll need for daily activities. Something as simple as having extra beach towels and bug spray on hand will make your trip smoother.

Accessories for Off-grid Versus RV Parks

Whether you plan to stay in a premier RV park or go off-grid, it’s important to consider what you’ll need on a daily basis. Think about the type of motorhome you have, amenities where you’ll be staying, and if you’ll have a wi-fi connection. For example, if you’ll be staying in an RV park with cable tv, you’ll have a different experience than if you’ll be boondocking on public land. Being prepared with the right generators, batteries, and solar panels on your rig will add up to a better trip if you aren’t sure about your accommodations or if you’ll be staying in more than one park along the way.

Depending on what type of rig you’ll be traveling in, it’s a good idea to bring items for indoor entertainment on rainy days, too. Many people make the mistake of assuming the weather will be clear and wind up disappointed in off-grid situations.

Food and Cookware

No matter where your final destination is, it’s important you have the food and cookware you’ll need for your trip. If traveling in a Class A or C, you’ll want to make sure those propane tanks are ready to go. Whether you’re traveling in a Class B motor home or if you use a camping stove, it’s a good idea to take an inventory of your cooking gear. Maybe you need extra butane, an iron pan for fireside cooking, or fire starters. Going through your supplies now will mean fewer worries during your travels.

When packing for RV travel, be sure to have water on board, too. In general, you’ll want at least five gallons per person to ensure enough water for the first chapters of your adventure. If traveling with pets, be sure to pack their food, water, and medications, too. While you’re at it, be sure to bring the first aid kit for peace of mind.

In the end, packing for your RV trip can be a lot of fun. Not only will it give you time to plan the perfect trip, but it will help ensure you have a great time while you’re there. Do yourself the favor of packing for your trip well in advance and you’ll be glad you did. Happy adventure-seeking to you. Have a fantastic journey or vacation. Don’t forget to pack that camera!
