Icon Design, Typography, Beyond The Wireframe and HTML5 Bootcamp - Introducing the FOWD NYC workshops
Each Fall, as The Future of Web Design rolls into Manhattan, we offer attendees the choice of four different full-day workshops - covering some of the most practical and interesting topics in the industry. This year's no different: the Future Insights team is incredibly excited to be announcing your options for 2013!
First up, we have NY-based UX consultant Lis Hubert, leading our "Interaction Beyond The Wireframe" workshop. This group will be conducting and investigating the design thinking that needs to happen outside of the interface to help set project direction, gain team consensus, and ensure project success. A must for any designer or front end developer looking to improve their applicable knowledge of interaction design...
Maybe you'd rather put in a full day's hard graft with leading typography expert Thomas Phinney? He'll be guiding his workshop through best practices for integrating incredible web typography into future projects, and develing into everything from the rise of Web Fonts to the typographic controls offered by CSS. With the last hour given over to free experimentation as you test out your new skills, and critiques of existing sites, this class promises a great balance of in-depth tution and hands-on learning.
Our third workshop will see attendees schooled in the very latest HTML5 and CSS3 techniques. From structures and semantics to transitions and animations, this option offers a full day of front end learning, to help you integrate the latest and greatest design advancements into your own work. Expect plenty of practical examples, live coding and demos. We'll be announcing the workshop leader very shortly, so watch this space...
Finally, we come to our Icon Design Bootcamp and Iconathon! We're super excited to be teaming up with both The Noun Project and charity: water for this session, which will combine a crash course in beautiful icon design with a practical challenge: designing a new symbol set, based around the concept of bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. If you're looking for the chance to improve your own skills at the same time as making the world a slightly better place, this is the workshop for you :)
Each of the FOWD NYC workshops is capped at 40 attendees, ensuring a great learning environment and plenty of contact time with leaders. With spaces limited, we've sold these sessions out for the last four years running, so we do recommend booking at your earliest convenience to ensure you get your first choice of topic. Even better, take advantage of our Early Bird pricing (available until July 27) and save $200 off your pass!
